How is the countdown calculated?
Fewer estimates your remaining time from your birth date, country, and sex, compared against public actuarial life-expectancy tables bundled inside the app. It is a statistical average and a philosophical reminder, not a medical prediction about you. Nothing is computed on a server; the math runs entirely on your Mac.
How do I change my birth date, country, or sex?
Open Fewer from the menu bar and go to its Settings. You can edit your birth date, country, and sex at any time; the countdown recalculates immediately.
I bought the premium unlock but it's not showing
The premium unlock is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple ID, not a subscription. On a new Mac, or after reinstalling, open Settings and use Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Apple ID you bought it with. If it still doesn't unlock, email us with the Apple ID region and approximate purchase date.
How do I request a refund?
All purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com or your App Store purchase history. We never see your billing details and cannot process refunds directly.
How do I reset or delete my data?
Your personal details (birth date, country, sex) live only in your Mac's Keychain, and preferences live in the app's sandbox. You can reset settings inside the app, and uninstalling Fewer removes everything stored locally. Nothing is held on any server, so there is no account to delete.
What are the system requirements?
Fewer runs on macOS 14 or later and lives in the menu bar. It works offline, requires no account, and includes no analytics, ads, or tracking.
The countdown is making me anxious
Fewer is meant as a gentle nudge to be present, not a source of dread. You can hide the live seconds, change the display, or simply quit the app at any time. If you are experiencing distress related to mortality, please reach out to a qualified professional or a local support line.
